ASRock and Gigabyte to See Robust Profits in Q3

2012/08/15 | By Andrew Wang

Taipei, Aug.15, 2012 (CENS)--With the coming of the high season in China, Taiwan’s two PC motherboard manufacturers, ASRock Inc. and Gigabyte Technology Co., are expected to report strong growths in revenues and profits in the third quarter.

With the release of Windows 8, ASRock will ship an estimated 1.95 million motherboards in the third quarter, and is tapping the minicomputer market with high-end products, which are priced at US$500 per unit with gross margin rate not worse than motherboards. The company also started to tap the industrial computer market as an original design manufacturer (ODM), also targeting the “white-box” server market for small system integrators and homebuilt computer systems.

Gigabyte saw its motherboard shipments in July increased 10~15% month on month (MoM) to 1.8~1.85 million units, higher than prediction and bringing revenue to a new high this year, up 19.49% MoM and 6.73 yea on year (YoY), with revenues and shipments expected to grow in August.

A representative of Gigabyte indicated that the company aims to keep quarterly double-digit growth in shipments in the third quarter, to 5~5.2 million units.

Despite fierce price competition in the motherboard market this year, Gigabyte is predicted to steadily improve shipment scale and gross profit rate in the third quarter.

Thanks to complete product lines, and decent brand image amid high-end products, ASRock and Gigabyte keep posting shipments and market share growths in China.
