Yulon Nissan Unveils Taiwan-made Nissan Big Tiida Compact

2012/12/20 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, Dec. 20, 2012 (CENS)--Aiming for a 12.5% share of Taiwan's market in 2013, Yulon Nissan Motor Co., local agent of Nissans, recently demonstrated the locally assembled Nissan Big Tiida compact.

The dealer said that Tiidas are a staple in Nissan's lineup for Taiwan and China. Yulon Motor Co., the flagship firm of the Yulon Group, introduced the world-car for local production in 2006 and some 60,000 Tiidas have been sold on the island.

Industry sources said that Yulon Nissan advanced the Tiida launch to grab more business opportunities before the demand peak early next year.

A senior Yulon Nissan executive said the Big Tiida has more spacious cabin, and is powered by a newly developed HR-series 1.6L gasoline engine, which is 23% more fuel-efficient than its predecessor and has maximum 185hp (similar to average 2.5L counterparts) with turbocharger.

The Big Tiida is priced between NT$600,000 and NT$900,000 (US$20,000 to US$30,000), and Yulon Nissan aims to sell more than 1,500 units in the first month after demonstration.

Industry sources disclosed that Yulon Nissan also plans to unveil the five-door and four-door versions of the Big Tiida mid- and late-2013, respectively.

Yulon Nissan pointed out that its affiliate Dongfeng-Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co. in China will likely evade anti-Japan consumer sentiment and recover sales volume in 2013, in which the Sino-Japan joint venture anticipates to sell more than one million new cars.
