Taiwan's 15 FHCs' Jan.-Nov. Profits Hit Record NT$158 B.
2012/12/14 | By Judy LiTaipei, Dec. 14, 2012 (CENS)--Taiwan's 15 financial holding companies (FHCs) posted combined after-tax profits of NT$158 billion (US$5.27 billion) in the first 11 months, exceeding NT$150 billion (US$5 billion) for the first time.
During the period Fubon Financial Holding Co. and Mega Financial Holding Co. were the only two that scored profits of over NT$20 billion (US$666.67 million) each, with those gaining profits exceeding NT$10 billion (US$333.33 million) being Chinagtrust Financial Holding Co., Cathay Financial Holding Co., First Financial Holding Co., and Shin Kong Financial Holding Co. Among them, Mega broke NT$20 billion (US$666.67 million) for the first time and First also for the first time saw profits exceed NT$10 billion (US$333.33 million).
In November Shin Kong was the only FHC with a loss of NT$462 million (US$15.4 million), yet in the first 11 months its profits totaled NT$10.128 billion (US$337.6 million). In the same month Cathay had profits of NT$1.38 billion (US$46 million), which expanded to NT$15.57 billion (US$519 million) in the first 11 months, due mainly to the good performance of Cathay United Bank, its banking arm. The bank recorded after-tax profits of NT$12.17 billion (US$405.67 million) in the first 10 months, hitting a five-year high.
Hua Nan Financial Holding Co. had after-tax profits of NT$312 million (US$10.4 million) in November, with profits of NT$8.413 billion (US$280.43 million) in the first 11 months for 7.57% YoY rise, with earnings per share (EPS) of NT$0.98 (US$0.033).
