Vizio's Hot Sales of Larger-sized LCD TVs in North America Benefiting Taiwan's Chimei Innolux

Taipei, Dec. 13, 2012 (CENS)--Benefiting from Vizio, an LCD TV brand that leads the North American market for 55-inch-and-above models, Chimei Innolux Corp., a display panel maker involved in Vizio's supply chain, saw its shipment of large-sized panels surge by 3.5% month on month to 12.82 million units in November.

Vizio's partnership with Hon Hai Group on joint development of larger-sized LCD TVs has obviously worked well, as the brand, based on the latest market report issued by a local market researcher, NPD, commanded a 37.5% share of the North American market for LCD TVs with screen sizes of 55 inches and above during the Thanksgiving, successfully unseating Samsung as the No.1 seller.

The executive went on to note that so far this year Vizio has achieved a 60% share of the overall market for LCD TVs in North America, also thanks to its successful marketing strategy focused on larger-sized models in cooperation with Hon Hai Group. This strengthens the brand's determination to carve out a bigger market share by heavily promoting 55, 60, 65 and 70-inch LED-backlit models coupled with smart TVs, all-in-one PCs running on Windows 8 and ultrabook laptops during the Christmas sales season.

Institutional investors pointed out that Vizio's success in promoting larger-sized LCD TVs will keep injecting growth momentum into Chimei Innolux's business in the months to come. Presently, the Taiwanese display panel manufacturer supplies panels for Vizio's 65 and 58-inch models, while Sharp's 10th-generation fabrication plant, whose ownership is now partly sold to Hon Hai Group, ships 60 and 70-inch models to Vizio.

With year-end sales booms to hit the global consumer market, Chimei Innolux is expected to see its shipment of large-sized display panels remain strong till early 2013, and may probably turn profitable in the short term.
