Japanese Biz Investments in Taiwan Exceed US$366.67 M. Jan.-Oct.

Taipei, Nov. 29, 2012 (CENS)--The efforts made by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) to improve Taiwan-Japan and Taiwan-U.S. industrial cooperation are paying off, with increasing investments and procurements by Japanese enterprises, as well as five new innovative industrial cooperation projects between Taiwan and U.S.

Since its inception six months ago, TJPO (Taiwan-Japan Collaboration Promotion Office) has been establishing cooperation network and promoting, driving up Japanese enterprise investments in Taiwan 40% from a year earlier to 505 cases by October, with investments rising 15.39% from 2011 to NT$11.4 billion (US$380 million).

Taiwan-Japan joint investments are also growing, with Orient Europharma Co., Ltd. and Japan's Nano Carrier co-investing NT$700 million (US$23.33 million) to build a new drug plant and hire 50 workers, with some US$500 million in revenues to be generated after start-up initially.

Also Japanese electronics maker Hitachi Ltd. is expected to purchase heavy machinery for the first time in Taiwan in the first quarter of 2013.
