Taipei, Nov.12, 2012 (CENS)--ASUSTek Computer Inc. (Asus brand), a major Taiwan-based computer vendor, announced recently that its parent company saw revenues in October up 5.3% month on month (MoM) to NT$35.555 billion (US$1.19 billion). Along with revenues from sales of Win 8 models, institutional investors estimated that the brand's consolidated revenues in October would grow 10% MoM to NT$36 billion (US$1.2 billion), the second highest in 2012.

Besides, Asus' low-priced touch NB “VivoBook” continues to sell well in Europe and U.S. markets, pushing revenues in November to peak in the fourth quarter. Asus has met its annual goal for NB shipments with 22 million units, and aims to raise it 14% this year to 25 million units in 2013.

Despite Win 8 having not boosted sales as expected, Asus still launched low-priced touch NBs to aggressively expand in Win 8 market, and has gained sufficient pull-in deliveries in Europe and U.S. in October.

Additionally, Asus' remarkable sales of “Nexus 7” have also boost market share of tablet PCs in Japan to 37.1%. Institutional investors noted that the significant price gap between iPad Mini and Android models will benefit Nexus 7 to grow in sales further. Along with rising popularity of Vivobook, Asus is expected to grow 5~10% quarter on quarter (QoQ) consolidated revenues in the fourth quarter.

Compared to other brand vendors, Asus is relative aggressive in the tablet market. To challenge shipping 10 million tablet PCs and become the world's second largest maker in 2013, Asus aims to release various models with competitive prices. The firm's India-business manager Alex Huang revealed that Asus would launch a tablet model for 15,000 rupees (US$275) in the beginning of next year, aiming to raise market share in India from 3% to 20% in 2013.

While most NB vendors including Lenovo remain conservative about operations in the fourth quarter, Asus is more optimistic, predicting shipments of Netbook and NBs to grow 3% from the third quarter to six million units, and tablet PCs to increase 13% QoQ to 2.6 million units.
