TPCA Signs MOU with JPCA to Enhance Ties between Taiwan and Japan's PCB Industry

Taipei, Nov. 2, 2012 (CENS)--Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA) inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japanese Printed Circuit Association (JPCA) for enhancing business ties of the PCB (printed circuit board) industry between the both sides.

Mostly thanks to the MOU inked, seven Japanese companies, including four PCB makers, namely DNP, Fuji Print, Mimasu and Memmei, have decided to seek cooperation with Taiwanese counterparts on joint development of PCB business.

The signing of the MOU is partly inspired by the burning animosity between China and Japan caused by bilateral disputes over islands in the East China Sea, which has forced Japanese enterprises, especially those running factories in China, to seek friendlier investment environments overseas.

Simon Chen, chairman of TPCA, said that the MOU was successfully forged during the TPCA Show 2012 held October 24-26 in Taiwan, which is the world's second-largest trade fair for the PCB industry now by exhibitor and visitor numbers. The MOU along with the trade fair, Chen furthered, is expected to open the door wider for Taiwanese PCB manufacturers to partner with Japanese counterparts in the future.

Chen said that Taiwanese manufacturers are supposed to be ideal partners for Japanese peers in business development, for the former have consummate production capability and decades-long practice of globalization, and are more familiar with the Chinese market than the latter that are globally noted for industry-leading technologies.

JPCA's chairman Seiji Konishi also looks forward to benefit from enhancement of Japan-Taiwan ties on PCB development after signing the MOU. Konishi said that the two parties should not just jointly explore the global market, but should also reinforce strategic cooperation with each other based on shared technologies and market information.
