Taiwan's AIDC Lands New Orders from Japan for Passenger Airplane Parts

Taipei, Oct. 19, 2012 (CENS)--The Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. (AIDC), a state-owned aerospace engineering company in Taiwan, successfully landed new orders, valued at NT$750 million, from Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Kawasaki Heavy Industries for different passenger airplane parts at the Japan Aerospace 2012, rounded off on October 14., according to the Taiwanese company.

The order from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is for 25 different kinds of workpiece for use in central wing sections of Boeing 747-8 passenger jets, which will be filled by AIDC through the assistance of its supporting companies in Taiwan. In the meantime, AIDC is contracted by Kawasaki Heavy Industries to produce movable wing components for Brazil-made ERJ-190 airliners for the first time, with production of some of these components to be outsourced to local subcontractors as well.

In fact, the new orders are the payoff of years-long partnerships between AIDC and the said two Japanese customers on building CL300, CRJ, S92 and ERJ airplanes since 2006. During the period of mutual cooperation, the Taiwanese aerospace engineering company has been well recognized for its devotion to excellent quality and prompt delivery. Therefore, this prompts the two Japanese customers to rebuild business links with the AIDC this year.

In addition, AIDC also signed a tail boom supply deal with U.S.-based Bell and garnered a contract order from Italy's Sicamb for horizontal auxiliary box assembly for Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner at the Farnborough Airshow 2012 held July 14-20 in the U.K.

Plus, the Taiwanese company already inked a memorandum of understanding with U.S.'s largest fighter manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, to jointly explore opportunities for the Taiwan F-16 A/B Retrofit Program. It also signed a cooperative agreement in July with U.K.'s Meggitt Defense Systems to supply structural components for 2,500 Banshee target drones. These achievements reflect AIDC's globally recognized aerospace engineering capabilities.
