Monitor Maker AmTRAN Expects Double-digit Revenue Growth in Q4

2012/10/12 | By Andrew Wang

Taipei, Oct.12, 2012 (CENS)--AmTRAN Technology, Co. Ltd, monitor maker in Taiwan, saw consolidated revenues in September reach NT$5.62 billion (US$187.33 million), about the same with August, totaling NT$15.935 billion (US$531.17 million) in the third quarter, up 5% quarter on quarter (QoQ). Despite expected shipment growth in the fourth quarter, AmTRAN's product prices and profits are likely to suffer due to underselling amid rivals. Institutional investors predict the firm's revenues this quarter will grow double-digit.

C.F. Wu, general manager of AmTRAN, pointed out that despite increasing panel price from the third quarter, LCD (liquid crystal display) TV market in the fourth quarter remains uncertain due to chaotic prices and promotions. The slowing market growth also shows the LCD market is restructuring, with several brands withdrawing from market and sidelining plant expansion. Wu says number of brands will keep declining to bring order back.

Y.P. Qiu, chief financial officer of AmTRAN, says with peak season in October and November, the firm is likely to achieve the LCD TV annual shipment goal of 600,000 units, exceeding last year's 530,000 units, but remains cautious towards profits in the fourth quarter due to underselling among rivals in the end of this year, with expected 30%-plus discounts offered as promotion.
