2012/09/24 | By Judy Li

Taipei, Sept. 24, 2012 (CENS)--The per-staff contribution at Mega International Commercial Bank averaged NT$5.395 million (US$179,833) in the first half, the highest among all domestic banks in Taiwan, according to the statistics released by the central bank.

Market analysts attribute such good performance of Mega employees to mainly ample profits gained by the bank's overseas investments and robust foreign exchange business.

In the same period Shanghai Commercial Savings Bank followed with corresponding NT$4.202 million (US$140.067.7), which is due to its relatively small workforce, with annual earnings per share (EPS) of NT$2-3 (US$0.07-0.1).

In the first quarter the per-staff contribution at Taiwan's domestic banks, including commercial banks, industrial banks, Export-Import Bank and Agricultural Bank of Taiwan), came to NT$1.696 million (US$56,533).

In the first half the top-10 ‘per-staff contribution' banks all recorded NT$2 million-plus (US$66,666.7) figures. The ranks excludes industrial banks for they focus on institutional banking and have much smaller workforce.

During the period China Development Industrial Bank saw per-staff contribution of NT$8.335 million (US$277,833), much higher than all that of commercial banks; and the corresponding figure of Industrial Bank of Taiwan posted at NT$3.419 million (US$113,967).
