Taipei, Sep11, 2012 (CENS)--Elan Microelectronics Corp., a major touch IC design house based in Taiwan, announced its capacitive touch screen chip (Smart-TouchscreenTM IC) for eight models with four major global NB brands has been Win8 Touch Logo certified, hence expected to help boost revenues in September.

Elan posted NT$625 million (US$20.83 million) in revenues in August, down 9% month on month (MoM) but setting two consecutive record monthly highs.

A representative of Elan pointed out that, as distributors cleared inventories to welcome Win8 products, the firm's shipments and revenues declined in August, but are expected to rebound, driven by sales of Win8 products starting in September.

An industry source indicated that Win8 features touch-screen functions including touch-screen interface design and N+5 multi-touch support, and will be released after Win8 RTM (Release to Manufacturer) in August.

Elan's certified touch screen chip is available for screen sizes ranging from 11.6, 13.3, 14, and 15.6 inches, and has cooperated closely with domestic and overseas makers of touch-screen panels to have started shipments in August.
