Taipei, July 10, 2012 (CENS)--Kuozui Motors Ltd., maker of Toyotas in Taiwan, recently announced to target selling 165,000 cars this year, including 60,000 cars for export through Toyota's global sales network.

If all goes as planned, Kuozui will set the export-volume record by a single automaker in Taiwan this year, also contributing revenue to its parent Hotai Motor Co. Ltd., agent of Toyota and Lexus in Taiwan.

Kuozui pointed out that it produced 157,000 cars in 2011, including 51,000 for export, generating total revenue of NT$87.2 billion (US$2.9 billion). Thanks to increasing export volume yearly, the firm aims to achieve annual production volume of 200,000 units by 2014.

A joint venture between Hotai and Toyota Motor Corp. of Japan with capitalization of NT$3.46 billion (US$115.3 million), Kuozui assembles in Taiwan six Toyota models for local sales, and produces the Altis compact sedan for export to the Middle East.

The automaker claims that its quality level has been recognized overseas and by Toyota Japan, hence its steadily rising export volume since 2009, with total car export volume reaching 120,000 units to set a milestone in the local automotive industry.

Y.Y. Lin, Kuozui's vice president, pointed out that Hyundai of South Korea has been trying to tap the Middle East automobile market in recent years, so Toyota Japan might contract Kuozui to ship more Altis sedans there to sharpen cost competitiveness, which will also raise production at Kuozui.
