U-Tech Contracted to Make LED Lighting for Philips

Taipei, July 3, 2012 (CENS)--U-Tech Technology Corp., an LED startup wholly owned by shipbuilder Ching Fu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., has been contracted to supply LED lighting equipment to Philips.

According to U-Tech's vice president, A.D. Wu, the company makes the lighting equipment by making most of Ching Fu's and its strategic partner Hui Hwa Industrial Co., Ltd.'s metal and mold technologies as well as Philips' electronics technology.

Wu reported that the company's contract products have been installed at U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (U.S. NASA) facilities and gas stations run by China Petrochemical Corp. of mainland China, due to their outstanding advantages, including less than 3% in light degradation after 10,000 hours of non-stop operation, good thermal dissipation design and a 75% electricity conservation.

Wu added that the company has won major quality certificates, including CNS, CSA, UL, CE, PSE and EN. These certificates make the company's products very competitive in major markets, including the United States, Europe, mainland China and Japan.

The vice president pointed out that this year the company will equally stress sales in both overseas and local markets, a revision to past strategy of focusing on export sales. Also, the company has no plan to develop streetlights despite Taiwan government's plan to replace the 326,000 traditional streetlights throughout the island with LEDs in three years.

Wu said enterprises and factories are the company's primary potential customers. The company will double its annual output in the near future from current 5,000 lamps. As part of the expansion plan, the company will add production lines in the third quarter.

Ching Fu is reportedly Taiwan's No.1 private shipyard, running businesses ranging from shipbuilding and satellite communications to ship software and trade. Optimistic about the future of green energy market, the company has branched out into LED lighting.
