Taipei, July 2, 2012 (CENS)--To demonstrate the capabilities of Taiwan's yacht builders, the island's first business-to-business trade fair for the global boat and yacht industry, named Taiwan International Boat Show, is scheduled to open in April, 2014, at the brand new Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, southern Taiwan.

Proposed by the Bureau of Foreign Trade and the Kaohsiung City Government and organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the inaugural trade fair will provide a total 600 booths under the roof of the said center, and is expected to attract 250 exhibitors at home and from abroad then, confirmed the TAITRA staff.

The show's exhibits will be centered on yachts, coupled with related goods and services, including marine hardware, boat building services, spare parts and components, interior furnishings, yacht maintenance services, and water sports equipment. With high exhibit variety, this professional show is inaugurated to satisfy foreign buyers with one-stop shopping services, said the show organizer.

Noteworthily, the inauguration of the show has also riveted attention of industry heavyweights from abroad, such as Kristina Hebert, the president of MIASF (Marine Industries Association of South Florida), and Jurij Korenc, the chairman of IFBSO (International Yacht Exhibition Organizers Alliance), both of whom participated personally in the pre-show international press conference held in Kaohsiung at the end of June to endorse the significance of the show.

In fact, yacht building is one of the most globally competitive industries in Kaohsiung, which is composed of 35 professional yacht builders all around Taiwan presently, with 19 of them located in Kaohsiung to jointly contribute 80% to the industry's overall output value. In 2011, Taiwan ranked No.7 in the global rankings of countries by output of 80-foot-and-above yachts, said Kaohsiung City Government officials.
