Taya Kitchen to Build NT$500 M. Factory in Taiwan

2012/02/23 | By Steve Chuang

Taipei, Feb. 23, 2012 (CENS)--The Taiwan-based Taya Kitchen Utensil Co., Ltd., a supplier of kitchen fittings and utensils targeted at the building industry on the island, has announced to invest over NT$500 million to build a factory in Taiwan’s central city of Taichung, which will be operational before the end of next year and help boost the company’s current output 1.5 times.

Not long ago, the company opened its brand new NT$300 million headquarters in Taichung spread over 6,000 square meters, with the building also being a flagship demonstration store that sells a full line of self-made and foreign branded kitchen fittings and utensils.

Initially a maker of stainless steel stoves, kitchen sinks and cooktops, the company, with a history of more than 35 years, decided to venture into higher-profit European kitchen fittings 20 years ago, which helped to strengthen its status in the domestic construction market.

Sales of kitchen fittings and utensils in Taiwan total between NT$10 billion and NT$14 billion every year, generated partly by retail sales to consumers and partly by manufacturers supplying construction companies. Taya Kitchen delivers over 20,000 sets of kitchen fixtures to local construction companies each year as reportedly the largest supplier in the segment.

The company runs two plants in Taichung, with maximum output of over 2,000 sets of different kitchen fittings and utensils per month, posting over NT$800 million in sales per year.
