Taipei, Oct. 5, 2011 (CENS)--To tap the lucrative healthcare market, Advantech Co., a leading maker of industrial personal computers in Taiwan, will work with the Chung Shan Medical University Hospital to set up an intelligent hospital, the first of its kind in Taiwan, with the partnership calling for Advantech to develop various medical information products and solutions, including bed-side infotainment systems, mobile nursing vehicles and electronic bulletin boards.

Advantech has also supplied hospital-grade tablet PCs to the Taipei Medical University Hospital, Shin Kong Wu Ho Su Memorial Hospital, Taoyuan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Tainan Chi Mei Foundation Medical Center, and Taoyuan St. Paul's Hospital.

Advantech's consolidated sales hit all-time highs for 30 consecutive months with operating gross margin reaching between 37.5% and 39%, forecasting sales in the second half to equal that of the first one.

Advantech scored NT$6.952 billion in consolidated sales in the second quarter, hitting a historic high. Institutional investors predict Advantech's consolidated sales to reach US$220 million, or NT$6.6 billion, in the third quarter and challenge NT$7 billion in the fourth quarter.

The company believes orders will recover driven by continued growth in demand for industrial-automation devices in the fourth quarter.
