Taipei, Sept. 26, 2011 (CENS)--Google reportedly will send its engineers to talk with Taiwan's server makers by the end of this month over the company's 2012 procurements of the computing equipment for its cloud computing plan.

Google is planning its procurement list for 2012, with servers among the list. The search engine plans to work with Taiwan's manufacturers to develop servers that are efficient in cost, thermal dissipation and performance for its cloud computing operation.

Taiwan's server makers, including Quanta Computer Inc., Inventec Corp. and LemTech Holdings Co., Ltd., are expected to win the contracts.

Quanta has recently won some orders from Google and FaceBook and is in talks with Singapore Telecom, PCCW and China Mobile on deals of supplying them computing equipment. Tecent Holdings Ltd. is one of Quanta's major customers in mainland China.

Some server-components makers in Taiwan, such as thermal-module makers and computer-case makers, are expected to skirt contract-PC makers like Inventec Corp. and Wistron Corp. to approach server buyers, according to Taiwan's industry executives.

A manufacturer of precision metal molds and pressed parts, LemTech has recently oriented towards developments of server cases. The company has won contracts to make cases for Cisco Systems Inc.'s IP phones, and plans to drum up server business with Cisco.
