Adlink and Flytech to Build New Growth Engines

2011/08/25 | By Ben Shen

Taipei, Aug. 25, 2011 (CENS)--To cope with the slowing global economy in the second half, Taiwan's leading manufacturers of industrial personal computers, including Adlink Technology Inc. and Flytech Group International Inc., will build new growth engines by tapping cloud computing, healthcare and things of Internet.

Both Adlink and Flytech report declining orders in the third quarter due to sputtering European and U.S. economies, but believe shipments will stabilize in the fourth quarter due to the new businesses.

Adlink has set up cloud-computing terminal and things of Internet divisions that are expected to launch new products sometime in the fourth quarter, with the new lines to be totally different from its core products of measuring automation equipment and industrial personal computers. The company projects flat performance in the third quarter from the preceding one due to slowing global economy.

Flytech says 200,000 sets of point of sales (POS) systems will be shipped this year, compared to last year's 170,000, with gross operating profit margin to reach 32% in the first half, also predicting shipments of higher-margin medical equipment and panel PCs will double in the second half from the first one, able to secure 45% gross operating profit margin from production of such products.

In the beginning of this year, Flytech budgeted over NT$40 million to secure 60% of OTEK System Co., a leading manufacturer of displays, with the acquisition to help consolidate production and marketing and double sales this year.
