2011/04/13 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, April 13, 2011 (CENS)--The first batch of auto parts produced after the March 11 devastating earthquake in Japan by Japanese auto maker Nissan for shipment to Taiwan has reached the island in late March, according to Yulon Motor Co., the local assembler of Nissan car makes.

With the new supply, Yulon said that it can carry out normal car production in April.

The latest batch of auto parts from Nissan is for assembling 600 cars in Taiwan.

Nissan, on the other hand, announced that from April it would restore the normal supply frequency, i.e. once a week or two weeks, of Japan-made auto parts to its global partners.

Industry sources pointed out that Nissan ignited its global parts logistic system to solve the supply shortage of some key parts made in Japan, including the VQ-series automotive engines and control chipsets. The Japanese automaker has also coordinated some overseas plants o supply some parts to Yulon in Taiwan.

In addition, Nissan also commissioned one of its engine factories in North America to supply the VQ-series engines to Yulon and other technical partners in Asia for local production of the Teana sedans.
