Simplo and Dynapack Set Up Partnerships in EV Application Market

2011/01/31 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, Jan. 31, 2011 (CENS)--Taiwan's parliament recently ratified a bill to provide a three-year commodity-tax break for full-electric passenger cars (excluding hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, or PHEV). And China will implement a policy to build at least 10 million parking spaces for battery electric vehicles (BEVs), according to foreign new wires.

To tap more lucrative opportunities in the expanding EV market, Simplo Technology Co., Ltd., already the world's largest supplier of battery packs for notebook PCs and cellphones as well as a player in the automotive application market, recently tied up with Taiwan's automaker Yulon Motor Co., while Dynapack International Technology Corp. announced to set up an alliance with Delta Electronics, Inc.

Simplo said that EV is a very challenging market and the development relies on different national policies. Simplo announced in February 2011 that it has tied up with China Potevio Co., Ltd. to produce EV battery and charging systems. The company's recent tie-up with Yulon, which is actively selling its LUXGEN own-brand cars (both gasoline-engine and electric powered) in China, is expected to further expand.

Delta participated in Dynapack's private fund-raising project and acquired a 10% stake in the partner.

Delta recently unveiled its BEVs and solutions recently at its plant in Wujiang, Jiangsu Province, China, showing the company's willingness to tap the big EV market there.

Industry experts pointed out that the notebook PC market, though continuing to grow, has stabilized. Simplo and Dynapack's moves are expected to create another wave of high growth in the future.
