AIDC Wins Orders From Many Int'l Aircraft-engine Companies

2011/01/10 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, Jan. 10, 2011 (CENS)--Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. (AIDC), a state-run and the largest aircraft manufacturer in Taiwan, recently claimed to soon begin supplying many key parts for new airplane engines to be launched by Rolls Royce, GEAE, Honeywell etc.

In 2011, AIDC's aircraft-engine parts production is expected to exceed NT$8 billion (US$266.7 million), the company said. In addition, AIDC recently also won three product-development certifications from Pratt & Whitney (P&W).

AIDC said it will deliver key parts for 1,272 CFM56 aircraft engines, a very popular model developed by GEAE of the U.S. and Snecma of France, in 2012, with parts shipments to GEAE's GENx engines to double in 2012.

Production volume of ultra-light business jets will exceed that of all jets in the next 10 years, generating demand for more than 70,000 aircraft turbine engines in the coming decade, creating opportunities for AIDC and its sub-contractors on the island, the company said.

AIDC stresses its own full capability in aerospace parts development and manufacturing, including special production processes plus superior management, as the reason for becoming a major key-parts supplier to many international makers of civil-aviation aircraft engines.
