Taiwanese Auto-electronics Delegations Eye Biz Opportunities in China
2009/11/26 | By Quincy LiangTaipei, Nov. 26, 2009 (CENS)--Eyeing lucrative business opportunities in the booming automobile market in China, the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA) has organized several delegations to visit Chinese automakers this year.
A delegation recently visited nine automakers in China in 10 days, with members in the group saying that potential Chinese customers are interested in their advanced and innovative products.
Yu Wen-kuang, delegation leader and chairman of Photic Electronics Co., Ltd., pointed out that new-car sales in China are expected to top 20 million units by 2015, with such big market to be decisive for Taiwan's burgeoning automotive-electronics industry.
Industry insiders said that the automotive electronics committee of TEEMA has achieved some initial partnerships in Fujian Province of China. A prototype vehicle equipped with some automotive electronics equipment supplied by Taiwanese companies would be unveiled in a trade show held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province in mid-2010.
TEEMA's auto-electronics committee also plans to organize delegations to visit automakers in northern and northeastern China next year.
According to Yu, Taiwan's automotive-electronics sector has strong support from the island's globally competitive electronic line, while Chinese automakers' products are lower priced. Partnerships between Taiwanese automotive-electronics parts suppliers and independent automakers in China would be the best option to upgrade vehicle quality and performance.
