Cheng Uei Scores Orders From Microsoft's Xbox Machines

Taipei, July 3, 2009 (CENS)--Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co., Ltd., one of Taiwan's leading manufacturers of electronics components, has taken orders for Xbox 360 game consoles from Microsoft Corp. In the second half of this year, Cheng Uei is expected to ship a maximum of one million units of the game consoles per month.

The company predicted it would ship 12 million to 13 million units of connectors for Apple Computer's iPhone cellphones and iPod digital music players in the second half of this year, enabling the firm to score at least NT$4 billion (US$121.58 million at US$1:NT$32.9) in monthly sales starting from July.

Thanks to the hot sales of interactive game consoles worldwide, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will introduce brand-new machines in the second half of this year. Of them, the Microsoft's Xbox 360 game console, which was debuted in early June, is the most eye-catching model. Many market analysts expect the hot sales of Xbox 360 game console in the next few months, which is expected to benefit Cheng Uei the most.

Cheng Uei is one of Microsoft's major suppliers of such key components as optical modules, wireless transmission modules and connectors for the Xbox-series game consoles.

In addition to the supply of key components for Microsoft's Xbox game consoles, Cheng Uei has recently stepped into the Nintendo's supply chain for Wii game consoles.

Aside from game consoles, Cheng Uei will see shipments of Apple Computer products increase in the second half of this year. Recently, Cheng Uei has begun shipping "iPhone S" connectors and connecting cables to Apple. The key components for iPhone and iPod will become one of Cheng Uei's growth engines in the second half of this year.

Cheng Uei chairman T.C. Gou said his company is expecting a promising sales performance in the second half despite the economic recession, with 70% of its earnings for the year to be generated in the second half.
