A leading furniture hardware manufacturer in Taiwan, Four Winds Corp. has recently spent more than NT$10 million (US$312,500 at US$1 = NT$32) to reshape its R & D center in Taipei. The remodeled center was inaugurated in mid-December of 2008 to celebrate its 30th founding anniversary.

Starting up as a hardware trader, Four Winds today has successfully developed into a professional manufacturer and trader of various hardware items, including slides, ground selection, office fittings, furniture locks, catches & latches, hinges & stays, fasteners, handles & knobs, etc.

The company sells its products mainly to the United States and Europe. "In addition to the U.S. and Europe, we also ship our products to Central and South Americas, Africa, Australia, the Middle East and Southeast Asia," the company's president Shen Min-ti says proudly.

Having been engaged in the industry for three decades, the company has in recent years transformed itself into an upscale manufacturer able to generate hardware items in small volume to meet specific individual needs.

"Our specially designed hardware items have gained increasing popularity among our clients in Europe and the U.S," Shen notes. "Nowadays consumers are inclined to purchase innovative or personalized furniture, which needs specially made furniture parts to match it."

Four Winds boasts integrated operations, from research, design, to manufacturing and packaging. "We have a strong R & D team and skilled labor force that generate state-of-the-art products to serve global clients," Shen emphasizes. "We can build any modules to meet any special demands of customers. Besides, we are able to develop multifunctional products. For instance, a door handle can also be a part of a bookshelf."

Since its inception in 1978, the company has spared no efforts in upgrading its operations, and is now capable of offering comprehensive solutions to various industries with a wide range of products covering more than 6,000 kinds of components and fittings.

In addition to the R & D center in Taipei, the company's local factory is located in Changhwa, central Taiwan and its China factory is sited in Dongguan of Guangdong Province. Moreover, it has a sales office in Dubai of the Middle East. The global employment enables the company to tap the market niche worldwide. (JL)
