Taipei, March 11, 2009 (CENS)--For different reasons, the world's top four notebook PC makers, namely Quanta Computer Inc., Compal Electronics Inc., Wistron Corp. and Inventec Corp., all embraced solid revenue growths in February.

Thanks to contract orders from Acer for Aspire One series Netbook PCs, Compal scored sales revenue of NT$38.094 billion in February, up 38% from a month earlier and 22.84% from a year earlier, with an overall notebook PC shipment of 2.2 million units. The firm noted that its sales performance is expected to further grow quarter by quarter this year, with annual shipment to hit between 32 million and 35 million units, getting closer to that of Quanta.

On the other hand, supplying iPod Touch and several All-in-one PCs to large-sized brands, Quanta posted combined revenue of NT$49.567 billion in February, up 15.1% from January but down 15.94% from a year earlier. Industry insiders indicated that Quanta is expected to see its sales performance rebound in the second quarter of this year, when the firm starts delivery of new notebook PCs to Dell and Acer.

Although seeing its February shipment slightly slide to 1.5 million units from 1.6 million units, Wistron still maintained its combined revenue at NT$32.8 billion for the month, up 28% from January and 27% from a year earlier. With an influx of contract orders from Dell and Acer, the firm will likely push up its shipment to 1.7-1.8 million units in March and reach 23-25 million units for entire the year.

Actively boosting its shipment of notebook PC and desktop PCs, Inventec also raked in robust revenue of NT$30.6 billion in February, sharply growing by 22.8% from January and 47% from a year earlier.
