2009/02/10 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, Feb. 10, 2009 (CENS)--Japan-based aircraft maker Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. recently signed an agreement with Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. (AIDC), the largest aircraft maker in Taiwan, to partner for the MRJ (Mitsubishi Regional Jet) project.

Under the agreement, AIDC will design and manufacture slats, flaps, belly fairings, rudders, and elevators for the next-generation regional jet-the MRJ-currently in development.

Nobuo Toda, Mitsubishi Aircraft president, said signing AIDC has about completed the recruiting of all the primary partners for the development and production of the MRJ, adding that the MRJ project has transitioned smoothly into the design and technical evaluation stage.

The MRJ will be powered by Pratt & Whitney's most advanced and highly efficient PurePower(tm) PW1000G engine, with the other major partners including Parker Aerospace (the aircraft's hydraulic system) etc.

Mitsubishi Aircraft commenced in April 2008 to design, type certify, procure, sell and acquire customer support of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet.

According to Mitsubishi Aircraft, the MRJ is a next-generation regional jet that will be based on cutting-edge development and manufacturing technology cultivated by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries during its many years engaged in the development and manufacture of both military and commercial aircraft.
