Professionals Worldwide Visited 2008 Interlight Istanbul Lighting Fair in Turkey

Major names and suppliers showed innovative products and services for lighting, installation and building automation at the 6th Interlight Istanbul, Lighting, Installation and Building Automation Fair held Oct. 9-12, 2008, during which 7,643 visitors from 37 countries and 52 cities passed the gates.

A total of 89 exhibitors were on-hand, while professional visitors worldwide were seen at Interlight Istanbul, including from the U.S., UK, France, Taiwan, Germany, and other European nations, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe etc.

Organized for the first time in Turkey, "Lighting Awards of the Year" helped to stir the innovative, competitive air of the fair. "Fleksi Plus" by Fersa won the "Lighting Award of the Year" in the category of "The Most Functional" product; while independent judges picked other winners among 21 products.

FERSA (Flexi Plus), the Most Functional Product

As a "first" in its class worldwide, the FERSA is a lighting controller with versatility. Without needing PC, program and interface, it runs and is compatible with various light sources. A ceiling light designed for suspended ceiling or plaster suspended ceiling in offices or outdoors, ARLIGHT consists of three different-shaped modules, which can be used collectively or separately. Ready to install off-the-shelf, ARLIGHT does not need tooling investment nor energy-efficient lamps; while its standard body eliminates the need to stock different models.

External Lighting - SITECO (DL10)

The DL10 meets lighting demands of outdoor spaces, highways and city centers by featuring LED technology. With various lens and special reflectors and meeting DIN EN 13201 road lighting standards, the DL10 has 86 LEDs.

LAMP 83 (R-Flex RMC)

Specially designed for shop windows, showrooms and hard-to-reach places, the R-Flex RMC is easily adjusted vertically and horizontally. Controlled automatically via program, the light rotates 350 degrees and 90 degrees vertically. Many lights can be installed, controlled remotely to create a pattern.

MEGAMAN Turkey Duyulmu? Inc. (CFL GU10 Dimmer)

A new-generation, energy-efficient reflector lamp, the CFL GU10 Dimmer's intensity is adjustable without special control mechanisms or cables. Rated to last 10,000 hours and meeting CE and SEMKO standards, it is highly efficient, and will not discolor, deform lit objects due to excessive heat.

Educational Opportunities

Seminars held during the Interlight Istanbul 2008 set up a platform to present state-of-the-art technologies and shed light on industries, with local, foreign makers as well as sector leaders sharing success stories.

Titled "Cold Cathode Technologies" and organized by Tepta, this seminar saw Daniele TRAFERRO, electrical engineer and cofounder of ANTROX, talk about the applications of cold cathode technology by explaining related principles.

Hans Jorg HAGEMANN, electronic engineer, economist and Southeastern Europe Sales Manager of BJB, discussed LED technique and advantages offered by such product range in the seminar on "Solderless Connectors for STARboards LEDs," which was organized by Er Elektronik.

Dr. Secil SATIR, professor at the Istanbul Technical University's Faculty of Architecture's Industrial Product Design Department, discussed "Emotional Approach to Illumination Design," a seminar that significantly contributed to collaboration between academia and industry, during which the professor said it is possible to create qualified modeling in Turkish manufacturing and design education by expanding awareness of emotional approach.

In the seminar "Tunnel Illumination," Nail EREN, senior electric and electronic engineer and sales manager of SITECO Aydinlatma, talked about the principles of tunnel lighting, leveling and application suggestions.

Serhat OZENC, project and engineering manager of CEMDAG Aydinlatma, drew attention to the currently popular issue of energy-efficiency by stating the advantages of computer based analysis, design and measurement for architects, engineers and employers in his seminar "Efficiency in Illumination System Designs."

Founded in 1980, NTSR International Fair & Convention Organizations, whose motto is holding efficient fairs that lead in Eurasia and Turkey that turn customers' investments into profit, put together Interlight Istanbul 2008 with the goal to set up business opportunities for foreign and Turkish suppliers of lighting, building materials etc., and will continue to try to attract state-of-the-art applications, products in future shows.
