PayEasy Teams With Ricefarmer.com to Promote Rice Cultivation

Taipei, July 28, 2008 (CENS)--PayEasy under the Taishin Financial Holding Co. recently announced it is working with ricefarmer.com to promote rice cultivation by domestic enterprises.

The agreement between ricefarmer.com and PayEasy calls for the former to provide rice paddies and the latter seek enterprises as cultivators. Both sides will likely farm 50-hectares of rice fields in a year, which will help rice farmers sell 175,000 kilograms of rice worth NT$18 million (US$594,060 at US$1:NT$30.3).

PayEasy is Taiwan's largest online shopping site in terms of order sums. Ricefarmer.com is the island's first firm comprised of farmers.

So far the enterprises taking part in the joint rice cultivation project include Qisda Technology Corp., East Asia Lighting Co., Phoenix Silicon International Corporation, XPEC Enterprise Inc., Kindom Construction Co., Choice Company, Taipei Electrical Commercial Association, Winner International Co. and the affiliates of the Taishin International Holding Co.

Taishin International Holding noted its affiliates will cultivate six hectares of rice fields and procure 12,000 kilograms of rice to be given away in the next half a year.

K.H. Lin, president of Taishin International Holding, said his company would help traditional industries as farming to build new business models of value to help future generations achieve sustainable development.
