Guangdong Lighting Makers Offer Solar LED Street Lights

Those who stay with or, even better, ahead of the demand curve eventually end up winning. And in recent years such curve has been highlighted not just by esoteric academics but world-sweeping trends—global warming and resulting catastrophic weather events as well as skyrocketing fuel prices—that are urging citizens all over to look for greener solutions, with one such means still as sensible, readily-available as ever: solar-powered energy sources. In fact quite a few lighting manufacturers in Guangdong Province, China are not missing this global rage to tap solar power—rolling out photovoltaic LED (light emitting diode) street lights.

Shenzhen Hongya OPTO Electronic Co., Ltd., for instance, offers just such green street-lighting solution: “Our LED photovoltaic street lights cut energy consumption by 70% and are equipped with solar cells with 100,000 hours of life,” remarks Xiong Dong-bu, manager.

The company's LED photovoltaic street lights feature V-shaped configuration for enhanced heat dissipation, a key obstacle for LED lights. The company turns out 2,000 LED photovoltaic street lights monthly, with a back-up capacity to 6,000 when necessary. The company plans to further expand shipment overseas that currently absorbs 30% of its output.

Branching Out Overseas

A dedicated LED lighting maker, Shenzhen Hongya offers large-power-factor LED lighting solutions. Backed by solid R&D capability and membership in the China Solid State Lighting Alliance, the company is ISO9001 and CE certified, testifying to its high standard in management and product quality. To expand overseas business, the company has established branches in Poland and the U.S., with the German branch now under preparation.

To cope with soaring production costs, brought on by the appreciation of the RMB, reduction in export tax rebate, and rising material prices, the company has been streamlining manufacturing processes to enhance production efficiency, on the one hand, and improving product design to cut material wastage, on the other, according to Xiong.

Solar Water Heater and Lights

With 15 years of experience in the photovoltaic field, Guangzhou Clean New Technology Co., Ltd. turns out photovoltaic water heaters and LED street lights, as well as affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Science.

“In addition to finished products, our company also produces controllers, while purchasing various components from quality suppliers, such as solar-cell panels from Kyocera of Japan which work at 17%-plus conversion rate and for as long as 15 years,” notes Koby Lai, a manager at its foreign-trade department.

The company regularly exhibits at major world-class fairs, such as the China Export and Import Commodities Fair (Canton Fair) held in Guangzhou, to further build overseas business. It has major overseas outlets in Western Asia, Africa, South America, and Australia, all of which have significant exposure to sunlight.
