Weshine Industry Ready to Make Major Moves for Key Advancement

2008/04/08 | By Quincy Liang

Weshine Industry Co., Ltd., an ISO/TS 16949: 2002 approved company specializing in manufacturing precision stamped parts, is fully ready to engage in a major business move after completing corporate restructuring, specifically to realize streamlining, higher efficiency, and degree of technical-orientation.

The company, established in 1986, has over the past 20 years been a major second-tier supplier of high-precision stamped parts to almost all local leading automotive and motorcycle shock-absorber manufacturers, as well as an important provider of such parts to many foreign shock-absorber makers in both original equipment (OE), aftermarket (AM) replacement, and performance-tuning markets.

In addition to its core shock-absorber parts range, Weshine also has successfully tapped into the international market by supplying different precision-stamped parts to many global auto and motorcycle tier-ones, such as roof structure parts for Mercedes-Benz limousines, CVT engine partition plates, engine boosters, etc. In fact, the company is fully capable of supplying stamped parts of all kinds.

Currently, Weshine runs a 70-employee integrated plant in Taiwan. The firm also runs an affiliate in Vietnam and a subsidiary in Malaysia, setting up a well-established division-of-labor manufacturing outfit featuring excellent flexibility in operation.

Big Advancement in Core Competitiveness

Kevin Yeh, a young and energetic new manager at Weshine, proudly claims that his company has successfully achieved big advancements in core competitiveness in 2007-to utilize conventional equipment to achieve the same results by fine blanking.

Such technical advancement, jointly developed by Weshine and a major tier-one in Taiwan, has greatly upgraded the company's manufacturing efficiency and profitability by reducing over 20% of processing costs. More importantly, no additional investment in product equipment was required.

Weshine now can utilize such new production technique to stamp parts in thickness from 0.1mm to 13mm fully in-house, including stamping-die development to manufacturing.

Backed by a seasoned die-development team of seven experienced and skillful professionals, Yeh claims that his company will never stop researching-trying to look for solutions to minimize costs of new production technique to levels of conventional stamping methods.

Integrated Services

Another powerful weapon that is expected to further upgrade Weshine's already-strong strength is, according to Yeh, that his company has tied up with a group of qualified satellite plants to provide integrated services to customers, from design, development, manufacturing, processing, and assembly, to even packaging.

"Such strategy we adopt is to meet the increasing demand from customers, which has effectively filled production lines, but requires more labor and plant space to handle post-manufacturing processes," Yeh explains. "With a set goal not to further expand our production scale in the short term, we are following a strategy to upgrade ourselves into a standard-setting plant as soon as possible, as well as transplanting the key know-how and management techniques to the group of satellite plants. We expect to achieve enhanced overall competitiveness via the successful set up of the central-satellite plant system."

Time is Money

Since its establishment over 20 years ago, Weshine is famous in the field for having set a record for the shortest lead time. The company, according to Yeh, managed to set its peers on their ears by delivering products within two days after receipt of order, and not from inventory.

"Fast response is one of our most sought-after services, and a key part of Weshine's competitiveness," the manger claims. "We will continue to devote ourselves to enhancing efficiency, flexibility, and speed of delivery-including shortening the time for die changeover, minimizing material wastage, transportation cost etc."

Like most Taiwan-based companies, Weshine also prides itself on mastering the core advantage of taking on small-batch, large-variety orders; but the firm is still working hard to maximize such advantage by upgrading its portfolio of skills.
