EV sales to outpace gas cars earlier than expected

2021/04/28 | By CENS

The first 2035 E-Mobility Taiwan expo is set to kick off on October 20 to 22 at the Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2. During the international press conference, industry experts revealed that the "golden cross" of gas-powered vehicles and electric vehicles (EV) could arrive much earlier than Bloomberg's predictions.

Host organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Chairman James Huang said Taiwan's crucial role in the PC and semiconductor industries meant they should not be missing out on contributing to the EV development either. The 2035 E-Mobility Taiwan show would serve to be the next step for TAITRA to assist suppliers in embarking on the EV bandwagon.

mTARC chair Hu Zhu-shen pointed out that it was very likely gas vehicles and EVs would reach the golden cross point before 2035 in terms of sales figures. Foxconn and MIH alliance technology officer Wei Kuo-chang shared how the alliance is currently experiencing the industry's transformation to a "software-defined world." With 1500 members from 47 countries, he hopes more software companies would join the alliance.

Delta chief brand officer Kuo Shan-shan remarked that due to Delta's early entry into the EV field in 2008, it has now become a Tier 1 supplier for many auto suppliers. She named electronics, electrical engineering talents advantageous in the EV industry and hopes to see more networking between auto firms, EV charging station suppliers, system integrators, and even transportation companies. Kuo named relevant infrastructure would require micro-grid management to help bolster EV penetration rate.
