Taiwanese Machine Tool Makers Report Revenue Shrinkage in July

2012/08/09 | By Ken Liu

Taipei, Aug. 9, 2012 (CENS)--While many machine-tool makers in Taiwan reported brisk shipments in July, some of their domestic peers in the industry saw their July revenues contract from a year earlier for failing to fill orders in time.

Tongtai Machine & Tool Co., Ltd. scored revenue of NT$403 million (US$13.4 million at US$1:NT$30) in July, plunging 52.04% year on year. In the first seven months this year, the company raked in total revenue of NT$2.5 billion (US$85 million), contracting 40.17% from the same period of last year.

Tongtai executives attributed the July recession mostly to higher revenue base in the same month last year and undelivered orders that it landed in June and July. The company will fill these orders in September.

AWEA Mechantronic Co., Ltd. garnered revenue of NT$275 million (US$9.1 million) in July, dropping 2.84% from the same month last year. However, the company’s revenue for the first seven months shot up 20.81% year on year to a four-year high of NT$2 billion (US$67 million).

According to the company’s executives, the company landed NT$250 million (US$8.3 million) of fresh orders in July. The company plans to deliver NT$900 million (US$30 million) of orders in the third quarter, similar to the amount it shipped in the second quarter.

Goodway Machine Corp. scored revenue of NT$209 million (US$6.9 million) in July, down 11.55% from a year earlier. Its revenue for the first seven months this year represented a growth rose 32.91% year on year to NT$1.7 billion (US$59 million).
