High-performance wire cut with linear motor

Ching Hung Machinery & Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., established in 1975, is one of Taiwan's largest manufacturers of a wide range of EDMs and wire-cut machines. The company is famed for its own brands of 'CHMER' and 'GENSPARK' in the EDM arena globally.

Recently, Ching Hung introduced a self-developed new-generation product-the MV-series wire-cut machine directly driven by linear motor to boost the machine's operating performance. The company boasts it is Taiwan's first and the world's second machinery manufacturer to apply the linear-motor technology to the wire-cut machines.

The linear motor-driven wire-cut machine developed by Ching Hung employs the ESL energy-saving technology that is unique in Taiwan. The machine can save power consumption by 15%, compared to general wire-cut machines.

With an in-house research and development department, Ching Hung claims it has made big breakthroughs in developing user-friendly CNC controllers along with EDM power-supply systems. The self-developed CNC controllers and power-supply systems have helped it save production costs.

The company notes its in-house software department is capable of optimizing the cutting performance of its EDM-series products between the power-supply system and controller. It also provides end-users with specific software for special applications.

Two years ago, Ching Hung introduced its first batch of precision bridge-type CNC wire-cut machines driven by linear motors when celebrating its 30-year anniversary. Thanks to its long-term efforts to develop advanced manufacturing technologies ever since its inception, the company won the "Machining Tool Research & Development, Innovation" award granted by the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry in March 2009.

The ISO9001:2000 and ISO14001-certified company says it would develop more reliable machines and step up after-sale services to customers who have dealt with the company for the past three decades.

At present, the company has 500 workers in five manufacturing plants in Taiwan, capable of rolling out 1,500 EDMs per year. The company mainly exports products to the U.S. and European nations.
