Established in 1992, Bii The Pao Trade & Design Co. (Peterburg) specializes in developing and making accessories for recreational vehicles-especially vans, sport utility vehicles (SUVs), and minivans--and exterior accessories mainly for European cars. The company markets its products globally under the "Peterburg" brand.

Peterburg recently demonstrated a very innovative product for camping lovers: the "Tree House" pop-up roof tent for the Volkswagen (VW) T4 van.

According to Peterburg R&D manager Wang Mu-jung, the Tree House is stored in a plastic housing on the roof of a van and automatically pops up within three seconds at the push of a button. The pop-up tent is made of highly breathable and water-proof composite fiber material and designed with a big transparent view window and a screen mesh door to let you enjoy the pleasure of getting back to the beauty of nature, which is the ultimate design concept of the Three House, though it is situated on a van roof rather than in a real tree.

For greater user convenience, many considerate details have been added to the Tree House design, says Wang, including an additional storage space in the rear section of the plastic housing (which does not impair the aerodynamic quality of the entire roof-top housing) for storing pillows, blankets, and other items. Other standard equipment of the Tree House include a ceiling night light, a ladder (made in steel and located in the back of a van) for users to easily climb into the tent, partition cloths, and other amenities.

Seeking to provide the best possible equipment for RV lovers, Peterburg is also developing a series of equipment for vehicle camping, including an in-car foldable seat/bed, in-vehicle revolving seats, system kitchen (including sink, gas stove, mini refrigerator, etc.), and system mobile office. In addition, the company also provides specially developed exterior water tanks (with various capacities up to 160 liters, built-in electric pump and electronic water-level indicator) for the VW T4 van, as well as van-side tents and bicycle carriers.

Wang is very confident that Peterburg has the ideal solution for all kinds of outdoor recreational van activities. The company currently runs a plant in southern Taiwan's Kaohsiung County and is planning to expand the facility so as too meet increasing demand from customers around the world.
