Cheetah Runs Fast In Top-end Tuning Parts

Cheetah Auto Enterprise Corp., a supplier of performance-tuning auto parts and accessories, has built an international name for quality and innovation. Cheetah president Tori Wu says his company supplies top-end parts, provides customers with custom design and manufacturing services, and offers flexible small-batch production.

Currently, Cheetah's major product lines encompass exhaust systems for turbocharged sports cars, pure carbon-fiber parts and accessories (for both interior and exterior use), sheet-metal body parts, and turbocharger systems. With its strong R&D division, Wu says his company can rival Japanese producers in quality, while undercutting their price by about half.

Wu says that unlike other exhaust-system makers in Taiwan, which usually develop universal-type products, Cheetah sells exhaust systems specifically designed for turbocharged cars. The precision design of the exhausts allows for easy, bolt-on installation. Exhaust systems have been developed for the Subaru Impreza WRX, Mitsubishi EVO VIII, and Nissan 350Z sports cars. All of the systems are sent to the U.S. for testing.

Among the carbon fiber products that the company designs for customers are engine hoods, side mirrors, spoilers, and interior decoration and instrument panels.

Cheetah also works with a major Taiwan sheet-metal body parts manufacturer to develop dies for pressing shark-fin ventilation slots (similar to those on the BMW Z3 and Mercedes SLR) into aftermarket sheet-metal fenders. Unlike competing products, Wu claims, his fenders are guaranteed for quality and correct fit.

Cheetah can also supply turbochargers made by IHI of Japan, as well as peripheral parts.

The company's products are exported to customers in the U.S. (which takes about 80% of the total), Japan, Australia, the U.K., Switzerland, and Canada.

Cheetah recently introduced many new high-end items to meet strong market demands, including rally-style roof vents, carbon gauge pods, hood scoops (for Sti), carbon/fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) engine hoods, front bumper lips, mesh fog light covers, ABS eye lines, ABS grills, and side skirts. For Subaru Impreza sports cars, Cheetah offers the newly developed WRC style rear wing (FRP) and WRC carbon side mirrors. (QL)
