Established in May this year, House Lighting Co. was founded by David Lin and Steven Lin, brothers who are also owners of Yah Juang Enterprise Ltd. Although House Lighting is a brand-new enterprise, the founders' ambition is to make it the world's best supplier of lighting fixtures. They insist this is not a castles-in-the- air pipe-dream--with its strong background, the company's personnel has a deep well of experience in the lighting industry from which to draw.

"House Lighting is an affiliate of Yah Juang Enterprise, which was founded in 1978; Yah Juang's main products before 1990 were lighting accessories and computer cases," says David Lin. In 1990 the company turned its focus to manufacturing and exporting lighting products. Three years later, the firm followed in the steps of most other Taiwan lighting manufactures and moved its major production lines to mainland China to take advantage of the low labor costs there. In order to meet the demands of clients and keep up with trends in the market, the two brothers decided to establish House Lighting to turn out lamps with Yah Juang focusing on light-bulbs.

The firm's products feature high efficiency, durability and reasonable price, says David Lin, creating maximum value for its clients. House Lighting is engaged in the development, design, manufacture, sales and service of lighting fixtures. In short, it can handle clients' OEM/ODM (original equipment/design manufacture) orders and also self-develop its own lighting products. The company's series of lighting fixtures are as follows: (1) Halogen series of spotlights & downlights with MR11, MR16, AR-70, and AR-111 lighting sources; (2) Reflector series with PL, PLC, PLT, FML, and FDL lighting sources; (3) Metal Halide series of spotlights & downlights with G12, G8.5, and RX7S lighting sources.

"We manufacture our products in full accordance with the ISO9001 standard for our quality-control system, and employ UL, GS, CE, CNS standards to guarantee their safety," Lin continues. "In the first year we want to reach over 60% in-house production, a defect- free ratio over 98%, and a capacity-utilization ratio higher than 80%."

The company is focusing on the development of lamps using LEDs (lighting-emitting diodes) and T5 fluorescent bulbs, in accordance with the standards set by OSRAM of Germany, GE of the U.S., and Philips of Holland. The firms's designers have a wealth of experience gained while working on traditional lighting fixtures at Yah Juang, and now place more emphasis on the R&D of high-end products. In addition, the company plans to cooperate with local research institutions to enhance its technical capabilities. Today House Lighting has a total workforce of 200 persons at its operations in mainland and Taiwan. Its headquarters are located in Taiwan, which includes a sales department, an overseas sales department, a design department and an administration department. The mainland operations includes a sales department and its manufacturing plant in Nanhai City, Guangdong Province. "To meet demand in the mainland and overseas markets, we are planning to move our factory to Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, and are looking for a facility with a floor area of 2000 square meters," Lin says. "The new factory will be equipped with tooling, plating, die-casting, painting and assembly lines, enabling us to bring out even more competitive products in terms of high quality, reasonable price, good service and fast delivery. Currently our products are mainly sold to Germany, France and Italy in Europe and Brazil, Peru in South America."
