L&L Machinery Industry Co., Ltd., founded in June 1991, specializes in the development of large-sized conventional lathes and computerized numerically controlled (CNC) lathes. Due to the increased demand globally for the machines that can process large-sized workpieces, over the past few years the company has been dedicated itself to developing larger-sized machines, both computerized and manual operated.

To date, the company has already developed TLA, LC, LD, LG and LF series high-quality CNC lathes. Each of the machines has to pass stringent inspection procedures, including laser linear testing, static and dynamic testing, heavy-duty machining testing, and dynamic stabilization testing.

The TLA series CNC lathe features 1,500mm up to 6,000mm in distance between centers. The machine can equip with such CNC controllers as Fanuc OTD, Fanuc 18T, Fanuc 21/T, Fagor 8055, Siemens 810D, depending on customer demand.

Despite the enlargement in machine sizes, the company's CNC heavy-duty lathe features high performance, heavy duty, reliability and accuracy. Recently the company made success in developing a series CNC heavy-duty lathes. Four models for the machine are available: 105mm, 153mm, 230mm, and 350mm in spindle bore. Main spindle of the machine is supported by super precision bearings and the tailstock quill is hardened and ground. The bed of the machine is made of one-piece rigid Meehanite castings.

"Since our establishment, we have been focusing on the development of large-sized lathes, both conventional and CNC types," says George Lin, managing director of the company, says. "Our customers mainly come from a wide range of industrial sectors. Our heavy-duty CNC lathes are suitable for the power company to do maintenance on the shafts of the turbine generators. Over the past few years, our large-sized machines have been actually sold to paper-making, mining, and construction firms the world over."

Currently the ISO9002-certified company is capable of turning out five up to eight conventional lathes and three up to six CNC lathes per month. The unit-selling price of the company's machines range from US$20,000 to US$150,000. The company's CNC heavy-duty lathe is suitable for the mold-making industry to process precision molds, while conventional large-sized lathe is suitable for processing large-sized pipes.

"Our concentration on large-sized lathes is aimed at distinguishing products from rival producers in this field," Lin states. "Only a few domestic producers specialize in the manufacture of large- sized conventional and CNC lathes. That's why we could maintain an average growth of 20% in sales over the past several years."

With designs meeting the standards of the International Standardization Organization, the company's machines totally meet the Chinese National Standards. "Since our establishment, we have concentrated on the increase of machining accuracy of our machines," Lin notes. "Meeting with these international standards, our machines are reliable and have high-degree durability."

The company uses many kinds of CNC controllers on its machines. "No matter which brands of CNC controllers our customers designate, we can meet their requirements by using different brands of CNC controllers on our machines," Lin states.

The company uses 'L&L' brand on its products for exports. Half of its output is sold on the original equipment manufacturer basis. All of its conventional large-sized lathes are certified by the machinery safety standards of the CE mark imposed by the European Union.
