Taipei, July 11, 2006 (CENS)--Yeong Chin Machinery Industries Co., Ltd., Taiwan's largest manufacturer of machining centers, recently debuted a new-generation spindle heat-compensation system that can help workshops save production costs.

The company noted the newly developed spindle heat-compensation system can greatly boost the machining accuracy of machining centers, offering 10 times the precision of conventional models.

To show off its core manufacturing technologies, the company held an “Open House” workshop at its headquarters to introduce the above-mentioned advanced technology in the middle of June this year. The workshop was dedicated to securing the continued growth of the domestic precision machining and automation sector.

The theme of the workshop was “Total Solutions,” which was evidenced by Yeong Chin's strong R&D capability. In addition to the introduction of some new product lines at the workshop, the company also showcased the innovative manufacturing skills and integrated manufacturing services it has developed over the past several months.

The innovative products introduced by Yeong Chin at the workshop included a high-speed machining center dubbed the YCM NSV102A, two series of precision mold-making machines named YCM NDV102A and WV108B, two series of new-generation turning centers known as YCM GT200MA and GT380LB, a series of high-speed, high-precision double-column machining center called YCM DCV3016B, and a series of five-axis machining center with the name YCM FX350A.

YCM produces most parts in-house. In terms of production value, the company currently has a self-production rate of between 70% and 75%. Most critical components, other than CNC control devices and some precision bearings, are made in the company's factory. YCM is capable of making cast iron, machined parts, and spindles in-house, and also assembles complete machines, of course.

At present, the company appropriates 5% up to 8% of annual revenues for R&D work. Thanks to its long-term efforts to develop precision parts, the company is capable of rolling out machining centers equipped with 16,000rpm to 20,000rpm spindles.

Founded in the suburb of Shenkang in Taichung County, central Taiwan in 1954, Yeong Chin specializes in the development and production of machine tools. Over the past several years, the company has expanded business scopes to include construction and biotechnology.

Yeong Chin boasted it introduced precision vertical milling machines in 1970, the earliest of all companies in Taiwan. The company stepped into the production of turret-type vertical milling machines in 1971 and began turning out injection molding machines in for plastic items in 1999.

At present, Yeong Chin's major product lines include machining centers and CNC lathes. The company scored NT$3.6 billion (US$110.76 million at US$1:NT$32.5) in sales last year, a slight decline from the year earlier. Because of the recovering economy and its introduction of new products, the company has predicted it will be able to see annual sales break the NT$4 billion (US$123.07 million) mark this year.

Over the past two years, the company has been internationalizing by setting up technology and service centers in Malaysia, the U.S., and mainland China. In the meantime, the company has also aggressively developed such markets as Southeast Asia, Turkey, and India. It is also planning to build up a delivery center in Europe in the foreseeable future.
