CNC-Takang Co., Ltd. Recently introduced a series of heavy-duty, ultra-low-speed CNC (computerized numerically controlled) lathes, representing the culmination of a long-term development initiative. Founded in 1994, the firm is one of Taiwan's premier manufacturers of CNC lathes and machining centers.

The company developed its own technology for use in the high-end machine tools, which have earned the company a good reputation in the domestic and foreign markets.

With more than a decade of experience in making CNC lathes, CNC-Takang offers a wide range of productivity boosting machine tools. The company says it is capable of designing and developing specialized machine tools to meet specific customer needs.

The firm's product line ranges from conventional and CNC lathes (flat and slant bed), double-spindle and double-turret CNC lathes and CNC vertical lathes to special drilling machines for flanges used in the oil industry, vertical machining centers, and high-speed vertical machining centers (bridge type).

Executive vice president Godwin Kao says his company has invested heavily in testing, inspection, and R&D operations to ensure the high quality of its products. The company's factory is located in the Taichung Industrial Park in central Taiwan.

Kao states the firm has developed a series of heavy-duty CNC lathes, the TNC-VS35, 40, and 45. Machines in the series have table swings ranging from 762mm to 1,020mm; and distances between centers ranging from 700mm to 5,200mm. The company uses high-tension Meehanite cast iron for the machine beds of the TNC-VS CNC lathe series. Slideways are coated with Turcite B through deburring processes to ensure accurate movement and positioning.

CNC-Takang recently introduced several new product lines, including high-speed horizontal machine tools and a CNC gantry-type machine tool driven by linear motor. The new machine tool series will be displayed at the 2005 Taipei International Machine Tool Show slated for March 15-20 at the Taipei World Trade Center.

A majority of CNC-Takang's products are exported, with the bulk destined for mainland China, Southeast Asian nations, the U.S., Canada, and Europe. It boasted double-digit sales growth last year, and with a recent surge in orders from home and abroad, the company expects 2005 to be even brighter.
