Established in 1994, Fortuna Auto Industry Inc. claims that it is currently Taiwan's largest exporter of racing side-mirrors. It supplies about 20 mirror models, which can be installed on the company's globally patented mirror base to fit over 150 popular car, light-truck, and minivan models. Most of the company's mirrors are marketed internationally under the firm's KDC brand.

Fortuna develops three to five new racing-mirror models per year. In recent years it has also been providing custom-designed mirror models for customers worldwide, in a wide variety of styling and finishing preferences.

The firm's president, Cooper Lu, claims the firm's patented mirror base (adapter) is the only model available in the market that allows mirrors (Fortuna's, naturally) to easily fit most popular car models. Fortuna sells the mirrors and mirror bases separately. This flexible dual-product approach has greatly increased Fortuna's sales worldwide, as end-users have found they can change their mirrors at much lower cost than previously.

Fortuna has also been actively developing newer and better mirrors by referring to the mirror styles on popular top-end sport cars and adding new functions, such as incorporating light-emitting diode (LED) turn-signal lights. At the same time it comes up with more streamlined production techniques to improve the units while lowering costs.

Lu says that Fortuna currently exports about 30,000 pairs of racing mirrors per month to major markets such as the U.S., Japan, and throughout western, southern and central Europe.

Fortuna currently runs a 100-employee plant in Taiwan. Lu is confident that the racing-mirror market will continue to expand rapidly, with such products coming to be perceived as "necessities" rather than mere "decorative" items.

Lu adds that his company will push some new mirror models in the K-Style series at the 2005 Taipei Int'l Auto/Motorcycle Parts & Accessories Show (AMPA) and welcome buyers worldwide to visit Fortuna's big booths at the show to have some surprises.
