ÜUMC operates three wafer fabrication plants. Fab 1, a four-inch wafer fab with a net monthly capacity of 50,000 wafers, manufacturers MOS integrated circuits to 1.2 micron line widths. Fab 2, a modern six-inch wafer facility with a net capacity of 30,000 wafers per month, produces complex MOS circuits at 0.8 and 0.6 micron line widths. Last year, UMC completed construction of an Ultra-modern 8-inch wafer poduction facility. Feb. 3, Equipped with leading edge 0.25 micro technology, Fab. 3 will produce 25,000 wafer per month at full capacity.
