Established in 2003, Active Development Co., Ltd. Is a young high-tech company with strong R&D and manufacturing capability in video-surveillance and multimedia products.

It supplies a wide range of products, including a comprehensive series of security items such as PCI-based digital video recorder (DVR) adapters, closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, TCP/IP cameras, video servers and DVR systems; as well as many innovative multimedia products such as MPEG2/MPEG4 DVR adapters, multimedia interfaces, and USB2.0/IEEE 1394 peripherals.

Active's products are sold both under the company's Active brand and on OEM/ODM (original equipment/design manufacturing) bases to many big international customers, with Japan its most important export market.

The firm recently unveiled its advanced real-time hardware MPEG4 encoding PCI adapter, the Active Guard 2200, further enriching its product list in the digital-video monitor field.

The Active Guard 2200 was specifically developed for digital-video remote surveillance. Equipped with the hardware accelerators of the MPEG4 engine, the advanced adapter encodes and records the video/audio stream on the fly so that CPU use is hardly perceptible. In addition, the Active Guard 2200 features a flexible frame rate, letting users actively adjust the stream flow to meet varying network-transmission requirements. The latest MPEG4 digital-signal processing (DSP)

technology has been incorporated in the model, and comes with either the Active Guard 2200-1 (single channel) and 2200-2 (four-channel) MPEG4 PCI adapter.

Other features of the Active Guard 2200:

1. Supports multiple MPEG4 adapter in a single PC system.

2. Overlay/Draw display, multi-channel video in a single screen, takes up less CPU and system space.

3. Supports A/V multiplexing, A/V synchronization.

4. Time stamp and text overlay on the compressed video stream.
5. Motion-detect alarm recording.
6. Supports TV output.
7. Hardware MPEG4 encoding.
8. Video format: CIF MPEG4 Compression rate (64Kbps-2Mbps); selectable frame (rate: 1-25 fps (PAL) or 1-30 fps (NTSC)).
9. Audio format: G.723; compression rate: 63 kbps.

Active's main offices are in Taiwan, with about 10 employees, and the company has a plant in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, mainland China, with about 70 workers. The firm's R&D team excels at both software and hardware development, and is thus able to satisfy any requirements from customers worldwide.
