Yison Interior Textiles Co., Ltd., founded in 1989, is a professional manufacturer of a wide range of textile fabrics. Thanks to the long-term dedication of its team of research and development technicians, the company has a stable of innovative products which superbly match global trends and the specific requirements of customers around the world.

Half of the company's upholstery fabrics are made of biodegradable olefin fibers. The company also says the olefin fibers are biodegradable, and will break down after a certain period of time if the item in which they are used is discarded.

Recently the company completed the development of functional fabrics suitable for use in mesh chairs. The company claims that its mesh-chair fabrics have higher tension than those produced by rival producers. Four large-sized OA furniture firms in Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and mainland China have already adopted the fabrics in their product lines.

Yison's management says that its fabrics have passed rigorous testing by such internationally renowned certification bodies as SGS (Societe Generale de Surveillance) and DEKRA-ITS (Intertek Testing Services).

The company's upholstery fabrics are suited for use with office-automation furniture, partitions, sofas, etc. Other applications are also being developed to accommodate the special requirement of buyers from around the world.

The firm's in-house design department focuses on identifying the latest international fashion trends and anticipating emerging ones. Special attention is paid to color trends in the upholstery-fabrics sector. Another area of emphasis is the quality- control process for raw materials to ensure final- product quality.

"With the ability to design innovative products in an effective way, our present research work is focused on developing fabrics that are environment-friendly, especially in terms of recycling," says Bill Chung, president of the company.

Yison is also almost set to unveil new upholstery fabrics for OA chairs. "These new products, now in the final stages of testing, are treated with infrared light and are suitable for use in OA chairs and are specially designed to help office workers increase their blood circulation," Chung says.

In addition to its sophisticated designs, Yison also uses fully automated production equipment to ensure standardized production. Over the past few years, the company has been implementing a precision materials-management system that can help customers more efficiently select the items that best meet their needs. "We are step-by-step building a computerized system which will allow our customers to select appropriate items, especially in regard to colors and designs."

Yison has invested more than NT$100 million (US$2.9 million at US$1:NT$34.4) over the past five years to establish a 72,000-square-foot ultra- modern production facility with an automated, computerized storage-and-retrieval system which can help shorten delivery times.

Yison currently exports 60% of its production. Its main markets are the United States, Europe, and Japan. Management states that two of its key competitive advantages are that its high-quality products are available at extremely reasonable prices and that it guarantees rapid delivery.
