Taipei, April 27, 2004 (CENS)--Taiwan's Trend Micro, Inc., a leader in network anti-virus and Internet content security software and services, recently announced record global earnings results for the first quarter of the year.

Trend Micro posted total net global sales of NT$4.16 billion (US$125.68 million at US$1: NT$33.1) and net income of NT$948 million (US$28.64 million) for the first quarter, both hitting record highs and representing a 25% gain in net sales and 74% increase in net income from one year earlier.

Trend Micro also announced that it would modify its multi-agent system in Taiwan into a sole agent one this year in a bid to further strengthen services to customers. The company recently demonstrated a custom-made anti-virus solution for small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which integrates the anti-virus functions for both personal computers and severs into one.

Marvin Chiu, Trend Micro's general manager in Taiwan, said that the new SME anti-virus solution can send the latest virus codes, scan engines and software-modification programs to all PCs in a closed corporate network, meeting meet the demands from SMEs without specific information system specialists.

Chiu said that Trend Micro's new solution would be distributed by new sole-agent Zero One Technology Co., Ltd. And that Trend Micro's revenue in Taiwan is expected to grow by 20% to 25% this year due to the new solution product. Chiu explained that the sole-agent policy is expected to integrate the customer service systems in Taiwan.

Trend Micro's PC anti-virus software products, bearing the brand name of "PC-Cillin" will be marketed by the sole agent Weblink International Inc. in Taiwan.

Zero One Chairman Jian Yu-mo said that his company would further strengthen its value-added service strategy for this year's software sales. The agent plans to add more distributor-certification and training activities this year and provide more incentives for distributors.

Trend Micro said that its new SME anti-virus value-added service pack integrates also specifically designed anti-virus functions for Microsoft's Exchange mail servers. The new function can both scan in-corporate mail virus and help prevent infected mails from spreading.
