Tech & Q says its Dynaflex-series office chairs can relieve back pain.

Tech & Q Furniture Ltd. Is a professional manufacturer of stacking chairs, office chairs, public-seating chairs, and chair parts. Recognizing the importance of sitting posture to human health, the company concentrates on the development of ergonomic models of maximum user convenience.

Management boasts that the firm's ultra-modern manufacturing plant, located in the central Taiwan town of Fangyuan, Changhua County, is highly efficient with the stress on quality in every part of the manufacturing process, major or seemingly minor. Each chair is crafted with the precision that comes with experienced craftsmanship, with close attention paid to aesthetic and ergonomic aspects. All the company's products are tested according to ANSI/IFMA standards.

At present, 90% of the company's output is stacking chairs featuring electroplated frames and high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) or ethylenevinyl acetate (EVA) seats and backs.

Good for the Body

In October last year Tech & Q rolled out a new series of ergonomics chairs called Dynaflex. The Dynaflex chairs are designed with osteopath-approved ergonomic functions.

Tech & Q notes its Dynaflex chairs provide full support for the lumbar, and overall comfort, outstanding design, and excellent craftsmanship, all at an affordable price.

"To design a perfectly ergonomic chair, we need to study variations and movements of human bodies," comments Liu Huang-chang, president of the company. "Most the time, sitting is a dynamic state, as people frequently shift, move, stretch, twist. Few people can keep the same sitting position for a long period of time. This is a drawback of the traditional ergonomic chair that we want to eliminate. Our Dynaflex chairs dynamically supports the lower back of the human body. It can offer support from any angle and any position."

Liu's interest in ergonomic furniture comes from his own experience of sitting in chairs for long periods of time. "Office workers today spent a lot of time in front of a computer, so it's important for them to use an ergonomic chair that alleviates pressure on the back bone."

Liu says his company's Dynaflex chairs have a dynamic seat back that is controlled by a specially designed fastener. This flexible back, he says, can help minimize back pain--a benefit that he says an osteopath has confirmed.

The Dynaflex-series chairs were displayed at the Tokyo International Furniture Show held at the end of October last year for the first time ever. "At the showground, we drew much attention from Japanese buyers and received big-ticket orders on the spot," says Liu. "We will promote the products at the Orgatec Show, one of the most prominent international furniture shows, to be held in October this year. This will be the first time for us to showcase our Dynaflex-series chairs in Europe."

Eye on Europe

Tech & Q's Dynaflex chairs are patented in Japan, a market that is still the company's focus. After showcasing the new product line at the Orgatec show, the company will make all-out efforts to tap new markets around the world.

"European consumers care a lot about ergonomics when buying furniture, so I believe our Dynaflex chairs will draw much interest there," says Liu. "To my knowledge, most consumers of Germany and Italy are likely to use the furniture featuring ergonomics functions. Price is less of a consideration compared to functions and comfort. Our Dynaflex chairs can meet this demand."

Liu notes the Dynaflex-series chairs are suitable for office workers around the world, though his company can also tailor its designs to meet the specific demands of consumers in different nations.

The company boasts it spares no efforts to develop sophisticated molds for the production of ergonomics chairs. "We need to use the right molds to ensure our products meet the design specifications of our customer," says Liu.

Over the past year and a half, Tech & Q has spent NT$300,000 (US$8,800 at US$1:NT$34.1) to modify molds for production of the Dynaflex-series chairs.
