HannStar Board Reportedly Wins Amazon's Order for HDI Boards for Kindle Fire 2

Taipei, Aug. 22, 2012 (CENS)--With Kindle Fire 2 believed to be unveiled in September, HannStar Board Corp., a Taiwanese supplier of printed circuit boards mainly for PCs and laptops, has reportedly garnered Amazon's contract order for HDI (high density interconnection) boards for use in the upcoming tablet PC, according to industry insiders.

Industry insiders said that to fend off competition from Apple Inc. that is scheduled to launch two newest tablet PC models in October, other brand vendors have tended to bring their products, such as Google's Nexus 7, to the market earlier. This gives insiders a good reason to believe that Amazon's Kindle Fire 2 is very likely to come in September after several delays since July, especially at a time when contract suppliers of parts and components for the devices have reportedly stepped up delivery to Amazon in August.

Among them is HannStar Board, which has allegedly landed Amazon's order for up to 2 million HDI boards for Kindle Fire 2 and revealed that its shipment of PCBs for tablet PCs has significantly increased since July.

Although yet to confirm Amazon's big order, the company stressed that its aggregate shipment in July and August is estimated to cap two thirds of the total posted in the first half of the year to infuse considerable growth momentum to its business performance for the third quarter.

In addition, the company, which has been contracted by Google to supply rigid PCBs for Nexus 7, is also believed to gain steam from the hot-selling tablet PC model, as Google, with the first batch of around 2 million units of Nexus 7 almost sold out worldwide, has reportedly placed additional orders with its contract suppliers.

Hopefully, HannStar Board's PCBs for tablet PCs and network devices will contribute 15% to its sales revenue in the fourth quarter of this year.
