Taipei, April 17, 2012 (CENS)--LED and OLED lighting technologies take center stage at the Light + Building 2012, a trade fair held in Frankfurt on April 15-20, according to fair organizer Messe Frankfurt.

The organizer estimated Germany's lighting market to generate annual revenue of around 6.5 billion euro this year, posing lucrative business opportunities to world LED-lighting manufacturers including those from Taiwan.

This year, a total of 2,352 manufacturers exhibit their latest products at the biennial show, 198 more than the number in 2010. This year, heavyweight exhibitors include Philips, ZUKMTOBEL and Osram.

Brand name exhibitors at this show include Everlight Electronics, Edison Opto, Nichia, Toshiba, Citizen, Sharp, and Seoul Semiconductor.

Over 90% of the commercial-lighting exhibitors are promoting LED lighting at the fair, suggesting that LED is gaining ground in European lighting market. Industry executives pointed out that LED indoor lights have outshone LED streetlights at the show this year.

Zhaga Consortium, an international organization dedicated to standard drafting for LED light engine interface, unveils interface standards for several light engines at the show.

The organizer estimated around 180,000 visitors to attend the 2012 event, with 100,000 from Germany and the rest form overseas. The 2010 edition of the show drew a total of 183,100 visitors.
