Taipei, March 6, 2012 (CENS)--The 25th Taipei International Cycle Show (2012 Taipei Cycle) will be held March 7-10, jointly organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters' Association (TBEA), Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association (TTVMA), Taiwan Rubber Industries Association, and Taiwan Textile Federation.

A record number of 1,092 exhibitors, including 807 domestic ones and 285 from abroad, will attend the largest fair of its kind in Asia, using a total of 3,288 booths, also a record high, according to TIATRA.

Major exhibits at the 2012 Taipei Cycle include complete bicycles, parts, accessories and light electric vehicles (LEVs), with dedicated displays at the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion, Light Electric Vehicle Pavilion, Sports Wear Pavilion, French Pavilion and the EU Pavilion.

Many international players will join the show, including Podium, Challenge, 4zA, Robert Borsch, Bobike, in addition to the frequent participants. The show is expected to attract more than 10,000 global buyers this year, TAITRA said.

Top-two Taiwanese assembled-bike makers Giant Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Merida Industry Co., Ltd. will showcase their 2013 new-year model at their booths. Each of the two has booked 16 booths for its big-scale stand.

Taipei Cycle Show will be held in conjunction with the 2012 Taipei Int'l Sporting Goods Show (39th Edition) and the inaugural Taiwan Int'l Diving and Water Sports Show at the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall and TWTC Hall 1.

TAITRA pointed out that 207 entries in the Taipei Cycle Design & Innovation Awards 2012 have been shortlisted to 74 winners, five of which will take home the special Gold Award. All the award-winning products will be on display at the show.

The design contest is organized for the first time by TAITRA and TBEA to celebrate the 25th international Taipei Cycle Show, and aims to give the bicycle industry a new platform to demonstrate innovation and design power to a broader audience, judging entries in the four categories of bicycles, components, clothing and equipment, TAITRA said.

Taiwan Bicycle Exporters' Association (TBEA) said that in 2011 Taiwan exported 4.38 million assembled bicycles, down 13.7% from the previous year; but the export value increased 10.7% to US$1.67 billion. The 2011 average export price was US$380 per unit, up 28.2% year-on-year (YoY).
