Taipei, Nov. 25, 2011 (CENS)--DWnet Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., a venture held by network-connectivity maker SerComm Corp. of Taiwan, said its second factory had been inundated with contracts since it was opened two days ago.
The second factory, running on a 40,000 square-meter land, is cranking out approximately 900,000 sets of network-connectivity equipment a month. Its first factory is producing 600,000 sets. The two factories, along with SerComm's factory in Chunan, northern Taiwan, are turning out a total of 1.6 million sets a month.
The latest factory is scalable with 20,000 square meters of spare land on sideline for future expansion.
SerComm Chairman P.Y. Wang pointed out that his company plans to list the Suzhou venture on mainland China's main board stock market in three to five years. He added that the venture will not migrate to the mainland's hinterland provinces like Sichuan in pursuit of low production costs as done by many other Taiwanese manufacturers running facilities in Suzhou. Instead, the Suzhou venture will transform itself into a high-end manufacturer stressing product value rather than low-cost production.
The venture's two factories are staffed with 4,000 workers and 500 R&D engineers.
DWnet's general manger, Wang Wei, pointed out that the unveiling of the second factory represents the company's operation is entering a new phase, placing emphasis on the combination of software and hardware.
Regardless of weak global economy, SerComm still projects its consolidated revenue for this quarter to rise from last quarter's NT$3.4 billion (US$114 million at US$1: NT$30), to NT$3.7 billion (US$125 million). It estimated its consolidated revenue for this year to spike 55% from last year to hit NT$13 billion (US$433 million), with earnings set at NT$3.25 per share.
