Taiwan Machine Tool Makers Set for 2011 EMO Hanover

Taipei, Sept. 16, 2011 (CENS)--Taiwan's manufacturers of machine tools and components are scrambling to take part in the 2011 EMO Hannover, the world's largest machine-tool show, slated for Sept. 19-24 in Hannover.

Hiwin Technologies Corp., a Taiwanese participant, says Taiwan's leading manufacturers will showcase their latest products in Germany as the show is widely viewed as the world's most important for state-of-the-art machinery and technologies.

Eric Y.T. Chuo, chairman of Hiwin and the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association (TMBA), says the rising Japanese yen and recovery of Europe's manufacturing industry will help domestic manufacturers of machine tools and components to tap the European market.

Chuo stresses the European Union's manufacturing industry is recovering despite decline in gross domestic product (GDP), noting Taiwan's manufacturers of machine tools and components are targeting Germany, United Kingdom, Turkey, Poland, Czech Republic and Russia with capacity for medium-price products.

TAMI says 1,997 companies will take part in the 2011 EMO Hannover, with 156 from Taiwan, up 50% from the last event held two years ago, to rank third, only behind Germany and Italy, and first among non-European Union nations.

Major Taiwanese participating companies at the show include Hiwin, Fair Friend Group, Tongtai Group, Goodway Machinery Corp., Awea Mechantronic Co., Dao Fong Machinery Co., Victor Taichung Machinery Works Co., Yeong Chin Machinery Industries Co., Taiwan Takisawa Technology Co., Dah Lih Machinery Industry Co., Kent Machinery Industry Co., Keyarrow (Taiwan) Co. and GSA Technology Co.
